President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of France Francois Fillon held talks at the Matignon Palace on February 2. The talks resulted in the signing of a package of important bilateral documents.
The package of intergovernmental documents includes an agreement on the establishment of the joint Turkmen-French intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, a Protocol to the Agreement on Cooperation between Ministries of Foreign Affairs, an Agreement on cooperation in culture, education, science and technology.
The Ministry of Culture and Broadcasting of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Culture and Communications of France signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of museum work. Heads of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Movement of French Enterprises signed a Cooperation Agreement.
The sides also signed an agreement on the implementation of the project "Improvement of sustained power supply in the city of Ashgabat" by the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Turkmenistan and the consortium of companies "Enex process engineering SA" (Belgium) and "Schneider Electric" (French Republic).
As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports quoting the press service of the Turkmen leader, the sides also signed a joint statement on the result of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the French Republic.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Francois Fillon noted with satisfaction the fruitfulness of negotiations, expressing confidence that "the agreement reached in Paris will mark an important step towards the further development of traditionally friendly Turkmen-French relations."
